Windproof measures
Asphalt tiles are generally less likely to be blown off by the wind in two or three-storey houses and roofs with a roof slope below 45°. Most of the things that are blown down by the wind are more common in high-rise buildings above five or six floors, roofs facing northwest or northeast with a roof slope greater than 45°, within one meter of the roof ridge and at the surrounding cornices. There are several reasons for this:

(1) Sensitive to the construction season. At present, the fixing method of asphalt shingles is still dominated by double-track nail glue. During construction in winter, especially for single-layer asphalt shingles because of their thin thickness, light weight, and weak tear resistance, the self-adhesive glue on the asphalt shingles is almost useless. When it works, it is all fixed by nails. If it is blown by strong wind, it is inevitable that the exposed part of the tile will fall off. The asphalt tiles installed in the north are most afraid of the dust and wind in March and April. Before the self-adhesive has not yet worked (the temperature is low and not sticky), if the dust is blown into the tile for the first time After the self-adhesive is dirty, the adhesiveness will be greatly reduced, and after being blown up by the wind many times, the tiles will be broken by the wind and then fall off. The most feared thing when installing asphalt tiles in the south is the northwest wind in winter. If the self-adhesive glue does not work after installation, it is easy to blow the tiles and drop them. When installing asphalt tiles in coastal areas, typhoon weather will occur, and if the glue is not firmly adhered, the tiles will be blown off.
(2), the quality of the nail-holding layer (concrete base) is not up to standard. According to the situation found on the spot, there are cement mortars with low grades (some roofs are frozen), and the thickness of the nail-holding layer on the upper layer of the insulation board is seriously insufficient, the pouring is not solid, large areas are cracked, and the edges are cracked. If a person walks on the tile, the nails will loosen, and even the nails will be rolled up or dropped when encountering strong wind.
(3) The installers did not follow the specifications for construction. According to the on-site inspection, it was found that the installers missed nails, missed nails or nailed them wrongly, causing the tiles to fall off; some nails were not knocked flat, and the nail caps separated the self-adhesive from the tiles, so the self-adhesive did not work and was blown off by the wind.
(4) The quality deviation of the product itself. For example, the viscosity, thickness, and width of the self-adhesive are not enough; the thickness and weight of the tile are not enough, etc., which will also cause falling.
(5) The rigidity of the wood base is poor. Due to the poor rigidity of the wood-based roof, it will vibrate in case of strong winds, and the nails will be pulled up and the self-adhesive glue will come off, causing the tiles to fall.
The asphalt tile roofing project should avoid being blown off by the wind, and all relevant personnel must work together to do a good job:
(1) First of all, the architectural designer, the person in charge of the owner's project, the installer of the asphalt tile, the project quality supervisor, and the supplier of the asphalt tile should have a high degree of understanding and understanding of the performance of the asphalt tile, and strictly follow the "Slope Roof Building Structure" Atlas, The relevant provisions of the "Technical Specifications for Slope Roof Engineering" shall be designed, constructed and supervised.
(2) The owner arranges the installation of asphalt tiles to try to avoid cold and windy weather (it is not suitable to install when the daytime temperature is below 10°C or the wind force is above level 5), so as to prevent the self-adhesive glue from sticking or being polluted.
(3) Check the quality of the base layer before installation. If it does not meet the standard, it must be rectified carefully to ensure the quality of the nail-holding layer.
(4) The installers strictly control the installation quality. The asphalt tile self-adhesive protective film should not be leaked or polluted. The asphalt tiles should be laid neatly and evenly. Make sure that the self-adhesive is sticky in time and sticks firmly.
(5) Manufacturers of asphalt tiles should strictly follow the standard requirements for production, do not use inferior raw materials, and adjust product performance in different regions and seasons accordingly to ensure that product quality meets the standards and adapts to the climatic conditions of the area of use.

Water Leakage Measures
(1) Leakage of asphalt tiles on the wood base. If the gaps between the boards are too large, uneven, the nail caps are exposed or the size of the nail holes is not enough to cover, and the lap joints of the asphalt tiles are insufficient in the vertical and horizontal directions, etc., the accumulated water will flow back in case of heavy wind and rain, resulting in water leakage.
Countermeasures: It should be ensured that the seam of the planks is less than 0.5 cm. In order to prevent the asphalt tiles from leaking due to the high temperature exposure in summer, and strictly control the flatness of the board surface to prevent the backflow of accumulated water.
(2) Water leakage on the concrete cast-in-place roof. Generally at the joints, such as the periphery of open-air pipes; the structural junction of protruding roofs; the junction of flat roofs and sloped roofs, etc. are not sealed well, the drainage is not smooth, and water seepage will occur when it rains for a long time.
Countermeasures: First, strengthen the waterproof sealing treatment in multiple channels according to the specifications on the weak waterproof parts (pipeline edges, nodes, return water, etc.), and the lap joints between tiles must meet the requirements of the national standard. In areas with rainy or frequent rainstorms, the waterproof lap length of tiles should be adjusted to avoid backwater phenomenon during heavy wind and heavy rain, ensure smooth drainage of asphalt tile roofs, and prevent roof seepage caused by long-term water accumulation.
Asphalt tile surface fading, discoloration, fading phenomenon and countermeasures
In the early years, the quality of colored sand used for asphalt shingles was unstable, and the proportion of asphalt mixture was unreasonable. So far, there have been serious fading, discoloration, color loss, and sand falling.
Countermeasures: Colored sand production enterprises should strictly ensure the quality of raw sand, control the dust content, select the strength of ore sand, and produce in strict accordance with the color sand standard. Manufacturers of asphalt tiles should control the surface color sand and embedding degree to ensure less sand falling out, and further improve the bonding strength of the asphalt mixture so as to avoid sand falling out as much as possible.
